FFs (normal; doesn't think people with different religious beliefs should be killed)

Not very good at expecting what happened.

The last execution was in 1826 in Spain. The Church was so upset they couldn't burn him at the stake (he was hung) either painted flames on his coffin or burned his body.

Most of the people killed by the Spanish Inquisition were Jewish conversos, and most of the rest were Moriscos (i.e. the Muslim equivalent). It's a funny thing that this does not feature in the popular historical memory of said rather unpleasant institution.

Technically, the Inquisition never executed anyone. Those condemned were promptly handed over to the secular authorities to do the deed.

Not only were they converts, they were probably legitimate converts. Crypto-Jews who were lying about being Christian, would just admit they were lying then lie again and say they were sorry. They would get flogged but avoid death. The only people who got killed were the people who denied being non-Christians, ie Christians who were telling the truth.

I don't think you could call such authorities functionally 'secular'.

How else would you recommend keeping the population figures in check after the Black Plague ended?

The usual term is 'civil' in that context (as opposed to 'ecclesiastical').

Freedom Fighters obviously.

Those who perpetrated these obscene, evil, unholy, non-Christian inquisitions were and always shall be counted amongst the most vile of human beings who have ever walked the face of this earth.
