Lol. They reported that there was a literal bridge connecting the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Vox is almost as stupid a publication as Salon or FreeRepublic. Igelsias once wrote about his surprise at discovering that each State elects 2 Senators and openly wondered about why Miami does not expand into the Everglades. They had a hilarious article a few years ago about how "just because Hamas launches missiles from schools, doesn't mean Israel is justified in destroying the missiles." All librul all teh timez.

Vox is about as high quality of a news site as Family Guy is a show. I'm beginning to think that maybe BRTD just has bad taste.

They are worth a read, and actually try to make you learn something couched in the context of scholarly research, as opposed to CNN or politico or something, but 1) the writers are very hit or miss and 2) like any outlet, you have to be conscious of the implicit editorial stance - for vox, they are very neoliberal, DC insidery in perspective.

They most certainly are not the best, but they put out some good stuff once in awhile. I like reading stuff by Matthew Yglesias in particular.

The site that had a calculator that totally lied and claimed Bernie was going to massively raise your taxes? Nope.

It's incredibly scattershot and inconsistent in quality.

The only things I don't like about it are:

-German Lopez, that guy is dumb and
-It once compared the John Kasich campaign to South Park. I'm amazed anyone at Vox watches South Park honestly.

Vox hosts and caters to exactly the sort of demographic to be into South Park, with the sole exception of surface-level political views.

All of their TV reviews and coverage focuses on very high brow content. It seems like Vox readers would consider South Park to be juvenile trash.

I'm honestly not sure if BRTD is trolling on this one.  I don't visit his dedicated sh[Inks]posting subforum on AAD so I can't tell for sure, but it certainly seems like it.

Edit: never mind, just saw him describe it as "the single greatest news outlet in the history of journalism" in another thread, so I guess that answers the question.  Well played, BRTD.

So I was confused after learning one of their writers converted to Islam. It might not be uncommon for white people to convert to Islam today, but I can't imagine how someone who fits the profile of "Vox writer" could convert to Islam.

But the article about Ramadan was more striking in it made me quite happy I don't follow or recognize it: http://www.vox.com/2016/6/6/11851766/ramadan-2016-muslim-about

Because OMG that sounds f[inks]ing terrible and miserable.
