Yeah, didn't Clinton do pretty well with gays in the 2008 primary against Obama?  Has that carried over to 2016?

It has, except among the youngest group (<25), but I would say she still has a huge chunk of that group if it is below a majority.

This forum generally, but seemingly also the Clintonistas on here in particular, is/are way gayer than the general US population.  Not that Atlas is a microcosm for the primary electorate, but it'd be interesting to see some polling - sexual orientation is rarely an item in surveys.

Can you explain your description of "way gayer" ?
What exactly does this mean ? What makes someone more, way-gayer ?

Stop trying to be offended by things. He didn't say individuals were "gayer". He said the forum was gayer. Meaning the percentage of the forum that is gay is higher than the percentage of US that is gay. His meaning was very obvious and if you really couldn't figure it out, you should be embarrassed.

First off, my question was not to you. So just go f%$k yourself.
Second, I never said I was "offended" (not yet at least ... I need addl info re "way gayer."
Third, the quote says "the Clintonistas on here in particular," so this does mean "individuals" and not necessarily just "the forum."

No, it was not referring to individuals, it was referring to the aggregate of Clinton supporters within the forum, which i would bet (like Democrats generally) has a higher average of men IDing as gay than the national average

I was NOT suggesting that Clinton supporters are more "flamboyant" or something like that

Your meaning was clear. The only way someone could misinterpret it is if they were willingly trying to distort what you were saying or if they were an idiot.

Why would a young Jewish man be more likely to support Hillary?

Pick one or more, in order from most likely to least likely: Lives in/comes from a >$100k per year household; enrolled in college or recently graduated without insurmountable debt; employed by or pursuing a career in a field where business and math converge, or perhaps law; gay and perpetuates the stereotypical admiration for the "big/bad/fierce bitch/diva/YAAS QUEEN" LGBT shtick that is associated with Clinton; Dixiecrat and/or somebody who cast their first vote for Clinton in the 2008 primary; anti-Semitic.

Pick one or more, in order from most likely to least likely:

Lives in/comes from a >$100k per year household;
Nope, single mom who worked as a secretary

enrolled in college or recently graduated without insurmountable debt;
Currently enrolled, but college debt is still an issue for me

employed by or pursuing a career in a field where business and math converge, or perhaps law;
I work in a restaurant

gay and perpetuates the stereotypical admiration for the "big/bad/fierce bitch/diva/YAAS QUEEN" LGBT shtick that is associated with Clinton;
God no

Dixiecrat and/or somebody who cast their first vote for Clinton in the 2008 primary;
Nope

anti-Semitic.
Nope

Try again.

It obviously doesn't mean Hillary supporters are all these things; it means these things make one more likely to be a Hillary supporter.

I'm 28, white, highly educated, and have identified as a progressive since I was in elementary school. I look back on my childhood and the Clinton 90s very fondly for the economic prosperity my family enjoyed.

I voted for Clinton in the PA primary in 08. And did so again in MA this year. Will vote for her in November, god willing.

Yes, and I would bet she is beating Sanders with this demographic quite handily, as well.

She built strong relationships with gay leaders around the country, but particularly in NY and NYC. She was a strong advocate for gay rights at the State Dept. as well.

I am (just recently graduated college), but I am a poor example because everything in my demographic and political profile suggests I should support Sanders. I just don't like the man personally.

Maybe a gay 20 something who never went to college and started out working as a bar back or server and now manages a restaurant. Since he makes a fairly comfortable living he has little sympathy for his former classmates who went to college to obtain what he sees as a useless degree and graduated thousands of dollars in debt.

Myself... 30, double major in economics and political science, upper middle class family background, raised protestant, now atheist, grew up in a racially and religiously diverse city (Orlando).

I prefer my politicians experienced, extremely smart and well educated, and preferably from the mainline strains of their parties. Practical rather than ideological.

Oh... and emotionally and mentally stable.

Fair enough. Won't loose any sleep over not being young. But if it was 2008 and a Hillary v. Sanders primary, I would still have the same views.

Hate to break it to you, but you do not qualify as young anymore. You are allowed to drink.

Why would a young Jewish man be more likely to support Hillary?

Israel, but young men period including young Jewish men are overwhelmingly Sanders

That's only partially true. Younger Jews with a strong Jewish, communal experience (think JCC, Reform or Conservative  Sunday School etc...) are more likely to have connections to establishment Democrat figures because of their parents, who also had that background. These Jews are most certainly supporting Hillary, in many cases, because of this.

many of my friends on the center-left volunteer/work/have internships with her campaign.

Jews without a communal experience, religious or traditional family, or a passion for Israel, will likely support Sanders, yes. mixed marriage Jews will also likely support Sanders (depending on the situation)

And yes,

Lives in/comes from a >$100k per year household;

But I'll add a couple more demographic reasons I might support her:

- Studies foreign policy
- Lives near the heart of a major city
- Plans to work in government (maybe more inclined to support establishment-types?)
- Only child (we're bad at sharing and thus unlikely to support dreaded socialism Tongue)
- Cat person (who knows?)

A law student, probably from a family making $100k a year which is technically in the 1%, but not really what one pictures as "the 1%".
