Warning to all delegates, pending legal advice (Me looking through the party By-Laws) the party is going to have a Primary Election for the upcoming Senate election in the North this weekend-we'll be running on a tight time frame and I'm unsure if the entire party will vote or just those in the Northeast. Watch this space for an update

I would personally prefer allowing Laborites in the Northeast to pick the candidate.  If I may make a suggestion, however, perhaps we may amend the bylaws so that the entire party can nominate candidates for regions that are underrepresented in Labor membership?

I'm not sure if that's the case for any of the existing regions now, but we might as well establish some kind of precedent if there's consensus on this.

well, i mean, in such a case, there probably wouldn't be enough candidates for a primary Tongue

You're probably right.  I only bring it up for the instances in which that were to happen.

Or not.  I suppose there's little point in preventing multiple Laborites contesting the general contests since we still have PV. Tongue

Okay Conference- first order of business

We're holding a Primary for the Northern Senate Elections that are going to be held next week- for two seats. As they're are three labor candidates- Blair, Evergreen and Smith we're going to be having a primary.

They'll be a 24 hours campaign period as agreed by the campaigns, followed by a 48 hour voting period starting tomorrow. Only voters from the North, and registered as Labor can vote. Members who have changed region after this post will not be able to vote in the primary

It seems the Northern Regional Committee is deciding to hold two separate elections for the two Senate seats in the Northern region. Thus, I'm not sure how holding a single primary election will determine which of the two winning candidates run for each seat. Will the two winners decide among themselves which one runs for the Class I seat and which one runs for the Class II seat?

i think that would be the fairest option.

As per the rules I set out above a 48 hour voting period will now begin for the two candidates to represent the Labor Party in the North Senate Elections.
