I would personally prefer allowing Laborites in the Northeast to pick the candidate.  If I may make a suggestion, however, perhaps we may amend the bylaws so that the entire party can nominate candidates for regions that are underrepresented in Labor membership?

I'm not sure if that's the case for any of the existing regions now, but we might as well establish some kind of precedent if there's consensus on this.

well, i mean, in such a case, there probably wouldn't be enough candidates for a primary Tongue

It seems the Northern Regional Committee is deciding to hold two separate elections for the two Senate seats in the Northern region. Thus, I'm not sure how holding a single primary election will determine which of the two winning candidates run for each seat. Will the two winners decide among themselves which one runs for the Class I seat and which one runs for the Class II seat?

i think that would be the fairest option.

I am a little wary about Mr. 1184AZ's suggestions. I think that a natural flow of folks between regions is acceptable and even desirable. But to entice people to move around for political purposes? My friend that's carpetbagging, and I don't think that the locals in the various regions would take too kindly to such devious practices.
you weren't around for operation cottonfield, were you? Grin
