The previous states all had their record lows during the end of Bill Clinton's presidency or around 2006/2007.

It's possible that more states will follow AR/OR with the May numbers, because the US rate dropped from 5% to 4.7% ...

Big thing to keep in mind is that labor force participation rate was nearly ten percentage points higher then.

That's why the "drop" in UE in May was widely panned by the media and economists today. Half a million Americans stopped looking for work, which was responsible for basically 100% of that .3% drop.

You really can't compare those years to now.

Im also surprised that you as a socialist bernie supporter are taking this side.

Only South Dakota is close to its historical low, which since it covers only the last 40 years, isn't that remarkable.

Not quite. It is more like 3-4%

Also the baby boomers at peak labour force participation in 2000 were roughly 35-55. In 2015 they were more like 50-65, which would take a toll on participation rates regardless of the economy. Like anything else, the lowered unemployment rate is a mixed bag.

Just because the Labour Force Participation rate is going down doesn't mean we're near another depression. Baby Boomers are starting to retire, and there are 70 or 80 MILLION of them, obviously the national rate will decline when that large a number call it quits. People just use the decline in this rate to bash Obama, it's not like anyone ever paid attention to it before besides economists.

Man, while I imagine things always suck in WV, it must have really sucked in 1983 when they were sporting the 18% unemployment.

Construction unemployment in Minnesota is at 2.1%, the lowest rate since 2001, and the number employed in construction is the highest since 2007.  Construction companies are having trouble finding workers.  This is the 3rd lowest rate in the nation behind Idaho and Nebraska.
