If I could live in Canada, I would live in Kingston, ON.

Edmonton, I guess.

As usual, I'd rather live in some rural part of the country than in any of these cities.

Vancouver and I find it odd that it's as close as it is.  I get Toronto and Montreal...maybe Ottawa....but why would you chose to live in Alberta?  And NOBODY wants to live in Winnipeg.

Alberta is awesome. Think of a combination of Texas and Colorado without racial animosity, trustifarians or border problems. Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia are good, too.

Why not? I admit I haven't been to Winnipeg since 1994. When I was there last it seemed like a reasonable Midwestern city, not unlike those I'd grown up in - St Paul, Des Moines, and Omaha. Has it changed so much in 20 years?

Sure, except it's always 20 degrees colder in Winnipeg than those cities....right?  Perhaps that's just me making assumptions based on fuzzy memories of weather maps.  I've never been.

oh and it's 500 miles from anything else isn't it? (again, warning of possible ignorance on my part)  Sure, Omaha is sorta isolated, but not to that extreme.

They're all great cities, the only ones I wouldn't live in are Vancouver and Calgary. I imagine Edmonton is slightly more erudite than the latter.

Halifax first, Montreal second. Je parle just enough Francaise to travaille and vivre ici.

Vancouver would be the only tolerable one.

I voted Montreal, but I don't know french, so Vancouver would be my 2nd choice.

I vote Vancouver, with my second choice either Halifax or Ottawa.  All great cities though.

I'm happy here in Ottawa. (affordable, not too congested, weather's not too terrible, can just get by [in terms of employment] as a unilingual anglophone, not too conservative, and the economy is pretty good)

Here are some cons with other cities:

Calgary, Alberta - too much congestion, a bit too conservative (though not as bad as its reputation)
Edmonton, Alberta (a bit too cold for even me! ... as a cyclist I would prefer to get a break from Winter biking for a few months!)
Halifax, Nova Scotia (poor economy)
Montreal, Quebec (poor economy, and I don't speak French)
Quebec City, Quebec (language barrier even worse than Montreal)
Toronto, Ontario (way too congested, way too expensive)
Vancouver, British Columbia (way, way, way too expensive, and too rainy!)
Winnipeg, Manitoba (see Edmonton)

Having said that, I wouldn't mind moving to any of those cities if I could afford it.

I currently live in Vancouver. Of the cities listed, I'd only move to Montreal.
