I’m missing where Palestinian women were raped en masse the same way German women were from 1944-1945.

The Germans suffered much more loss of territory and ethnic cleansing than the Arabs did in 1948, but the Germans rebuilt and now are one of the richest countries in the world, while Palestinians have continued to make the worst of a bad situation.

I guess I'm not understanding the "Palestinians today" vote.  Maybe, MAYBE, if it was limited to Gazans post Hamas's terrorist attack it would be a good debate.  But ALL Palestinians in all of 2023 vs Germany in the mid to late 40s?  How is that even a debate?  If your options are being a random German in 1944 or a random Palestinian in 2023 and you pick German, you're a nut blinded by biases.

am I missing something?  (and I totally understand that if you're German, lucky enough to be a woman and you survive only raped a half dozen times, your future might look a little brighter (and we know that only due to hindsight) than a Palestinian, but even that might not be true as we can't know the future.  But surviving 1944 and '45 in Germany is going to be hard.  Certainly if the average Atlas poster maintained their age and chromosomes they'd be on a front somewhere.)

Bring it up with the 300,000 half-Soviet half-German children born between 1945 and 1946.

A better comparison would be Gazans in 2023 to citizens of Stalingrad in 1943.  Gaza is currently an active war zone.  And it's just a small city, not comparable to the entire German population.

The difference is that the Soviet Union was the defender in the conflict, while Germany was the aggressor, making it more apt to compare to Gaza.

Depends: Gaza or West Bank? Western Occupation Zone Germans or Soviet Occupation Zone Germans?

The answers to these questions makes a BIG difference.

How anyone can vote german here is just lol.

There was no war in germany in 1945 to 1949 to begin with. That alone makes the question easy.

Arguing life in USSR-occupied germany is harder than that of palestinians (no matter west bank or gaza) is just ridicilous. The only argument is the context of time, in that life in the 2020s generally is easier than 70 years ago (though it's not that straightforward due to increased societal pressure and expectations, but that applies less to Gaza).

You should be embarrassed for having such an outrageously mindnumbing stupid take.

A small city of 2.3 million people

That's 1/4th the population of Belgium, and more than 1/10th of the Netherlands.

that's not small. It's almost the same population as all of Chicago.

Honestly this is not a easy question, but I lean toward the Germans.

If Israel did to Palestine what the Western Allies did to Germany in 44-45 , you’d be demanding the ban of every pro Israel poster on here .

The treaty of Versailles didn't actually screw over Germany as much as Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. Obviously it's the Palestinians today being used as pawns by Hamas and collateral damage by the Israeli offensive.

Possibly up to 60,000 Germans died in 1945 during the Russian annexation of Konigsberg.
