Our favorite Bryan Democrat and Rockefeller Republican. Both insist they represent the true origin of their respective parties, yet both are lost men trapped in a political jungle that is without mercy towards their nostalgic politics. Which poster's vision of how their party should be is least consistent with how it actually is?

Santander isn't actually a real person. It's a covert MI6 project aimed at embarrassing Scots on the internet as a part of anti-referendum campaign.

Santander, conservadems of his particular breed are more fringe now then they have been at any time in history. It's easier to see people being consistent Republicans at any point in time if your relatively conservative and pro-business from the north.

Santander is just a random DINO who hadn't realized Dixiecrats aren't really a thing anymore (thank God).  RINO Tom sounds like he's actually been alienated by his party, so he wins by default.

There are still a lot of Republicans like RINO Tom in the party.  People like Santander are not Democrats anymore.

A lot of them are still registered Democrats, they just never vote Democratic for anything except dog catcher or coroner.

I disagree.  While both parties are MUCH more ideologically homogeneous nowadays, Democrats are still the more heterogeneous party most years if you look at DW-NOMINATE scores.

If we're talking about 2016, definitely this.  If we were going for a longer time frame (say post-Clinton), then quite possibly Santander.

LOL, I'm sure that neither of us are overly alienated by our local parties.
