I voted for Giannoulias. I didn't love the pick, but I wanted Obama to have the most friendly congress.

EDIT: I will add though, that control of the Senate aside, Kirk made a much better senator than Giannoulias would have. But Kirk's hawkishness will prevent me from voting for him and I will be supporting Duckworth.

Kirk. One of the best republican senators. I really hope he pulls it out this year.

Alexi, even though I don't like him. Would have been enthusiastically supportive of David Hoffman in the primary.

Haha I'm sure they'll "fix it," get sick of more Democratic policies ruining the state, elect a Republican, still want the same terrible Democratic policies, vote him or her out and rinse and repeat.  We deserve to be in the situation we're in.

Of course, but I think your average voter thinks "I'm pissed off about ____, I'm voting for ____!"  I wasn't saying voting for your Senator based off of your state's issues made much sense.

Because anyone but an obnoxiously rabid and extreme social conservative is unacceptable to some Republicans (who then ironically don't hold Republicans who hold moderate fiscal views out of the party mainstream to be "RINOs").

The idea of wings within the GOP is what is killing the party.

I've never really fit neatly into an exact wing. My economic views, are essentially libertarian, mixed in with neoconservative foreign policy and national sec policy, with a weird mix of some social conservative and some social progressive views.
