Haha.

So this thread probably has three major milestones left...when Hillary is not indicted, when Bernie endorses her, and when she becomes the official nominee. After that, I guess that will be the end. Cry I'd imagine it probably won't be worth checking by the time we get to the general, though maybe I'm wrong.

I vote that after the convention, we start posting r/the_donald comments in this thread.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

The responses in the email thread were quite low energy. Here's some remotely amusing ones. Maybe other threads will have funnier stuff.

They're also talking about primarying Joyce Beatty because she said she was frustrated that Sanders hasn't endorsed Clinton. Never mind that a) the primaries in Ohio have already passed and b) the district is 34% black.

Looking at the Sanders FB page also makes me sad. A lot of people are ready to call him a fraud and lose all respect for him if (when) he endorses Clinton.

Why?

If anything, this election has proven my suspicions that a lot of Americans don't give a damn about policy and vote based on personality and emotions. These people probably weren't going to vote anyway.

It looks like this Tuesday will be when the real Sanders supporters are separated from the phonies. It will be fun.

I wouldn't really say they were "phonies." There was just always a stark divide between the people supporting him because they liked him and his policies (ex: Raul Grijalva, Jeff Merkley), and the people who supported him solely because they hated Hillary Clinton (ex: H.A. Goodman, jfern) It's only natural the latter group would gravitate to Trump or Stein. The former group has already been gradually moving on over the past month, which is why the rump that remains is almost entirely the latter.

Sanders made his bed of lies and hate, now he can lie in it.  Let him "feel the bern" for once.

What is that sub's reason for existence at this point?  Sanders isn't running for president anymore and the sub clearly isn't pro-Bernie, they don't understand his positions (notice how all the threads are about drama and self-congratulation and none of them really are about policies), it really just seems like a big anti-Hillary, anti-Democratic-party sub under the veneer of team Bernie or socialism or the revolution.

Honestly it just seems like a bunch of pissed off people writing, posting and upvoting anything that will hurt Hillary and the democrats or at least get under their skin, regardless of whether it has anything to do with Bernie or his message.  Thus the Jill Stein and Tim Canova love.

The sad thing is that the reason they're pissed off is a bunch of lies in the first place.  They invented the whole "rigged election, corruption, DWS threw away all of Bernie's votes and stole it from us" shtick because they couldn't accept that they lost, and now that it's a month or two later they've just accepted that as fact and use it as justification to continue being angry when they really have nothing else to be angry about.  And so they continue hurtling along in this tantrum because it's easier to just stay with the group than to admit that you were wrong, keep supporting these Canova/Grayson/Stein/Trump candidates because they'll validate your opinion that the DNC stole the election from Bernie and promise to punch the DNC in the nose for it.

Think of it this way: If you were a sane Sanders supporter, there's a strong chance you weren't on Reddit to begin with. If they still were, there's a strong chance these types gradually left as the site became less about r/sandersforpresident and more about r/ihatehillaryclinton and r/conspiracytheories and r/whining. If they STILL were, there's a strong chance these types gradually left after he lost and conceded. Now, what does that leave remaining? Right wing trolls and the obsessive anti-Hillary freaks to continue to circlejerk about how she is Satan incarnate.

"Please STOP asking for us to support Hillary Clinton" is currently the top post in the sub the day before bernie asks his supporters to support Hillary Clinton.

IIRC, most of the saner supporters already left the subreddit, creating a new one to advance their congressional endorsements and leaving only the true crazies in /r/S4P.

See, the left is eventually going to form its own tea party. It's inevitable at this point. The nutters have been propagating at a frightening rate and in new, awe inspiring ways.

There are people who want to "primary" people in their own party. There are people who want to undermine their own cause for the sake of purity. That's insanity. Unless you're trying to get rid of, say, Zell Miller, primarying someone is an awful, awful idea.
