If Bernie announces that he plans to fight on to the convention, does Obama still endorse Hillary before it happens? And if he does, might he have to attack Bernie to try and unify Democrats behind Hillary?

He kept Guantanamo open, didn't he?  Better pack your sunblock, Bernie!

Endorse Hillary, say that Bernie ran a good race and congratulate him for his accomplishments and his work for progressivism, but the voters have spoken and have given Hillary more votes/delegates than Bernie by any measure.

Once it becomes apparent that Clinton is going to win the nomination, he is not going to hurt the situation by endorsing her. He has let the voters have their say. (one could argue that endorsing before DC votes might be problematic, in a sense, but not a big deal if Clinton clinches today or tomorrow) Obama is very intelligent and is popular with Democrats. This is not going to be a problem. Three key superdelegates have not endorsed: Carter, Biden, and Gore.

I think he needs to attack Sanders. These Bernie supporters have a death grip on their saviour and seem to be locked in with him for eternity. Let's pry them away one by one.

It is already apparent lol. She is the presumptive nominee. She has enough delegates to clinch the nomination.

True enough (if you count super delegates); the point is that Obama is waiting to let people vote today. That's only logical.

Actually not true. So far, Sanders seems willing to support Clinton if she wins the nomination (at the Convention), and some of his supporters are not. What the actual per cent of Sanders voters who refuse to support Clinton will be is something about which I have no idea.

Yeah, but the question in the post is about the convention. It is not a question of whether Obama endorses Hillary now or tomorrow. It is a question of whether he endorses Hillary before or during the convention. Which he obviously will.

He will refer to Sanders and his supporters only obliquely, never mentioning them by name.  "The forces of disunion in our party," or something to that effect.

And rightly so.

He'll endorse Clinton no matter what Sanders does.

However, he probably won't attack Sanders directly because he has no reason to. I mean, it'd be a valid criticism but I don't think Obama attacking Sanders would accomplish anything.

He kept Guantanamo open, didn't he?  Better pack your sunblock, Bernie!

I think Sanders was one of the people who blocked him from closing it (because of his plan for how to replace it IIRC).
