He HAS to know he'd have the best chance against Murphy. Is he THAT salty about the primary?

Plus he was a useless Senator and I'm sure one of the other ones might be slightly less useless.

You can't be serious here, right? He lost a primary in his own state just a few months ago. What's with this ridiculous Rubio hype?

If he runs for the Senate and Carlos Beruff kills him in the primary his actual career is over with.

Or if he loses in the general to Murphy.

I find it funny how quickly Rubio losing his home state by 20 points to Donald Trump so quickly went down the memory hole. Face it media, your shilling for him as Obama 2.0 was a mistake, and it's time to give up the dream.

Presidential primary =/= Senate primary/general. A recent poll found that 77% of Florida Republicans want him to run for reelection.

No matter what TN Volunteer wants you to believe, Rubio is not the one republican hope for the seat. The only real benefits he can bring are immediate name recognition and easier out of state fundraising. his approval ratings aren't anything special, his connection to the state party and donors can be matched by several of the current candidates, and of course a run now leaves all sorts of GOP primary ammunition.

That is not to say he's particularly bad as some of the Democrats would have you believe; he's still charismatic and an incumbent senator. The best way to think of him is as a slightly better CLC. With Rubio or without Rubio the race is a tossup any one of the non-Beruff candidates will do well.

The strength of the FLGOP is not really in its candidates; Jeb Bush won here! While the FLDEMs are so incompetent they basically need to rely on a stellar candidate to win anything, the party fundraising and GOTV machine of the state party is what makes Florida a GOP state more than the quality of any of its candidates. That'll be true here too.

1) He never liked being in the Senate

2) Would have to force his friend CLC out if he wanted to run

3) If he ran, and lost the primary or the general, his political career is completely done. No 2020 comeback, no 2018 run for Governor.

Hey! It's second place! That's better than his Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada victories, even though Nevada has his Hispanics!

Again, everyone is underestimating how badly damaged he was by his embarrassing, terrible presidential campaign. It also seems to have really taken it out of him, and I don't blame him for not wanting to run in another election so soon afterwards.

Not to mention, it looks terrible for him to run for president, and then crawl back to a senate race that he opted out of with his tail between his legs.

I picture it being like a high school boy getting turned down by the cheer captain for prom and asking some other girl who is obviously plan B. Voters are not going to like the idea of that Senate seat being treated as a consolation prize, especially when he publicly talks about how he hates the Senate and justified his horrible attendance record by saying he is by running for reelection. Not to mention the knots he's tied himself in regarding supporting/not supporting Trump.

Anyone who reads my posts knows I'm a huge Rubio fan, but I think it's in his best interest and the best interest of the GOP if he sits this one out.
