I just thought about the 1960 election four years earlier: What if Democrats had nominated JFK in 1956 and Nixon gets the Republican nod? President Eisenhower does not seek reelection in that scenario due to health problems.

I'd bet the 1960 map, maybe a slight boost toward Nixon among Black voters, flipping a state or two?  Eisenhower was the only GOP candidate who could do as well as he did (or even close) pre-1968.
