I have lived in both, They each have good and bad points, The tie breaker for me is [b{Pizza[/b] so NY wins Tongue

Okay, okay, I'll hear any argument for NYC out there, but WHAT?! Tongue
How many Chicago residents actually order a deep dish? Smiley

True!  It's more of a special occasion type of pizza for actual Chicagoans.  We take our out of town friends there.  TRUE Chicago pizza is thin crust, think Vito & Nicks, Barracos

Being a Peorian, I get deep dish every time I'm in town.

However, I'll take (super) thin crust pizza from Agatucci's (Peoria) over anything I've had in Chicago, not even kidding. Smiley

Giordanos?
Lou's?
Ginos?
Uno?
Pequods?
Pizanos?

The proper deep dish is Giordanos, but Pequods is good too.  Lou's is cardboard crap.

Also, the best thin crust in Chicago is found on the south side.

Ready for some real blasphemy?  Papa Del's (Champaign) might be better than all of 'em!!  Always been a Malnati's fan, but Giordano's was amazing last visit.

My rankings:

Thick
1. Lou Malnatis
2. Giordano's
3. Uno's
4. Papa Dell's
5. Connie's

Thin
1. Aurelio's
2. Beggar's
3. Rosati's

I'm not one of those "Chicago people" who never eats deep dish. I eat it very regularly. New York pizza is very delicious, but the fact that Chicago has both deep dish AND thin crust, which has a fantastic sauce and cheese, on a whole there's no doubt Chicago pizza beats NY pizza.

I forgot about Beggar's.  That's up there too, and from good ole Blue Island, one of my favorite towns.

The pinnacle of Chicago pizza is at Pal Joey's. They aren't a big chain, but you can find them in West Chicago on IL 38 just west of IL 59 or in downtown Batavia on the east bank of the Fox river. Their pan pizza isn't as saucy as the city deep dishes but provides a better balance between crust, sauce and toppings. It's worth the trip to the western 'burbs.

230 AM Antonio's is where it's at for Champaign pizza. But I've never found NYC and Chicago-style pizza to be all that comparable. NYC is more appropriate for a quick, on-the-go snack, whereas Chicago more resembles a comprehensive, sit-down meal. There aren't any 99 cent by the slice deep dish joints in Chicago.

Never seen a poll for which such a large percentage of the vote was taken account of in the posting.

That's a ratio of ~1.3478:1. Pretty impressive.

I actually eat it fairly frequently. I order-out a pizza every Friday night and rotate thin crust-deep dish every other week. So, 50% of the time I am ordering a pizza, it is deep dish.

As much as I love Papa Del's, for me it doesn't touch Lou's. It is certainly the best in Champaign, but it isn't as good as my favorite places in Chicago.

230 AM Antonio's is where it's at for Champaign pizza.

Good memories. I love how many Illini alum we have on this forum.

Same thing. I probably rotate through Lou's, Girodano's, Lou's, and thin crust. The truth is that we just can't go wrong with local Chicago-style (thin or thick) pizza.

Absolutely. After the bars let out it was Antonio's, Fat Sandwich (probably had a few too many), first Wendy's than McDonalds, or sometimes Dick's Dogs van on Fourth (we were KofC buddies; he had the best drunk stories after serving hotdogs on campus for 40 years). And yeah, God Bless all of the Illini on Atlas. #WeWillWin

New York always has and always will be the greatest city in the United States. Chicago can come close at its best, but never will it be better.

My love for Chicago and general distaste for New York is well-documented, so my vote is clear

We need some of our Chicago Democrats to channel their roots and vote again.

I can't really vote in this poll, because I've never been to Chicago, other than the airport (something which I'm hoping to change soon!)

New York, which is kind of a second home to me, is awesome, and I'll gladly debate anyone who claims otherwise. I wouldn't want to live in Manhattan, but it just has so much to offer in terms of food, entertainment, and scenery. Queens is probably my second favorite borough, and there are some great Asian places in Flushing. The Bronx Zoo remains the most impressive zoo I've been to in my life. I have family about a half-hour north of the city, and I certainly wouldn't mind that kind of arrangement.

Maybe Chicago can compete with New York. I'll withhold judgment until I actually go there.
