None whatsoever.

Yes his life is ruined but who gives a f[inks]? He could'be avoided that by not raping someone.

No, and I think the sentence was a miscarriage of justice but our society's addiction to outrage porn always reminds me of this video. It's not always rapists whose lives are ruined by something that goes viral online.

Yes, but I have sympathy for everyone including Adolf F*king Hitler. Justice was not dealt with though.

I just X'd out of a thread where there seemed to be clear sympathy for this rapist. You posted there too. The whole angry response to that thread was based on said sympathy.

Either way, the thread title doesn't imply anyone voiced sympathy or not. It was just a question.

Criticizing the outrage that this case generated doesn't mean I have any sympathy for the rapist.  And BTRD only creates polls like these when he is trying to passively aggressively call out someone on the forum who has a different view than himself.

I guess the orange Pennsylvania guy was saying that, but he's clearly trolling.

Right, I wasn't talking about you of course.

I really doubt he was trolling. As far as I can tell, he gave no sign that he was. Usually people give up the act and tell people they are trolling when they get that kind of backlash. Based on his posts there, I think his views are just so absurd that it seems like trolling. Did he say he was trolling and I missed it or something?

Maybe he wasn't.  I guess I have too much faith in humanity.

Short answer: absolutely not.  He raped an innocent girl and had the audacity to act like this situation was unfair to him.  I actually saw a very good Facebook comment making the point that Brock Turner was brought to believe he could have whatever and whomever he wanted because he's a pampered little piece of shlt, and being drunk only unlocked that thought; it didn't cause him to have that narcissistic belief.

Could you spin it that I do even a little? ... I guess??  As our maroon Australian pointed out, I could probably find SOME sympathy for anyone at a certain point (when Adolf Hitler was in the middle of being skinned alive and screaming in agonizing pain, I might find myself saying "OKAY, okay, let's kill him a more humane way this is just sick!"), but GOD it's hard to feel sorry for Brock Turner.  I might feel sorry for his parents if I weren't led to believe that they definitely enabled him to be the self-absorbed prick he is today, but him?  For me, personally, raping someone is just about as bad as it gets.  It's barbaric, cruel ... it's just unimaginable. Sad  And at the end of the day, he raped an innocent girl who was out partying with her little sister.  That could have been tons of great girls that I know, and that thought is horrifying.

He deserves a hell of a lot more than what he got.

You can read my post on AAD, but frankly, I don't know how any religious person can lack sympathy for any troubled soul just because they received unfair advantages in one regard. Every human deserves our boundless love, and while my legal philosophy may change, my moral philosophy remains that. That will be my final point on this matter.

Trust me, sMilo isn't trolling here.  Not believing in punishment is a pretty longstanding belief of his.

I think his heart is in the right place, but I also think his view on the crime/punishment ratio is way unbalanced. People have to share this world with each other, and unfortunately humans can be very flawed creatures in some ways. Adequate punishment is a deterrence but also a manifestation of distrust. Society cannot trust a rapist to be on the streets. The judge is there to decide how long until we can give them another chance, and possibly additional measures post-release. I do think there is a good debate on how long, and important to myself - what they do while incarcerated. I believe we should truly try to rehabilitate, but that's for another discussion. The same thing applies to other crimes.

As for the topic / sympathy for the rapist - I just don't feel any sympathy for him or others like him. I'd only be lying if I said I did.

Eh? That's worked out great so far. The solution to putting out fires is also to put flamable material on it. We need criminal justice reform, not more hate in the system. I am pretty prolife so I may be an extremist on CJR, but I think all people deserve an equal access to parole and abolish the death penalty.

But still with that. I would pray to Buddha that this guy becomes the 'bitch' of the prison. I feel no remorse for this as*hole.
