Somewhat, but the overall margin statewide surprised me. If I had to guess a county map knowing the margin, I'm not sure I would've given SF to Sanders.

The side effects of gentrification? We saw a similar thing in Brooklyn (although to be fair, it was a closed primary, but still). Berkeley is now the left-wing liberal capitol of the Bay Area anyway.

No I had SF going for Clinton, I have an image of my predicted California county map in my profile.

Somewhat. I thought the progressive capital of the world would be fertile ground for Sanders. Then again, SF is actually fairly diverse.

Interesting that you had Yolo for Clinton (and a good pick assuming that mail in votes don't flip it).

Hillary Clinton's strongest demographics throughout the campaign were:

-minorities
-rich Democrats
-gays

Knowing that how the hell would she not win San Francisco?

IIRC, San Francisco has a lot of "Reagan Democrats" who have been unpredictable all campaign season.

Let it be known once and for all that the Reagan Democrats of San Francisco have chosen Hillary Clinton.

San Francisco is strong on defense.  They support the military, so it was never going to be a Bernie city.

On an unrelated note though their probably are quite a few "Reagen Democrats" in the Bay Area though, largely based on the fact Reagan won several of the Bay Area counties in 1980 and 84

I literally LOLed. Cheesy

I was very surprised that the liberal/progressive haven of San Francisco chose the neoliberal warmongering corporatist hawk. Her also winning Marin, which was her worst county in 2008, was really surprising as well.

It was definitely the George Lucas endorsement that single-handedly swung Marin County.

It's almost as if...most progressives/liberals don't buy into the spin that Hillary is far right Satan incarnate! Shocked

Truly mind blowing.

The vote was very fractured along class/income lines. We have seen this in other states as well but it was usually overshadowed by racial differences (and of course age), especially the difference in voting between white and black voters. Here in California it looks it was income that mattered more than race.

Not really. I'm a bit surprised she won Alameda, but I imagine there's a pretty stark divide between the Berkeley area and Oakland.

Mildly surprised, but only because I saw people giving it to Sanders on their prediction maps and I figured they knew what they were talking about. It makes sense now that I think about it.

I'm not surprised.  San Francisco's Democratic establishment is no less in the tank for Hillary than the rest of the Democratic Party.

I was surprised her margin wasn't larger considering how poorly Sanders did with gay and identity politics voters so far and how dominant they are there. California in general is just not a fertile ground for Bernie's East Coast left messages
