And who would you have supported at the start of the primaries?

Inspired by the "what would a conservative BRTD thread be like?" thread. Democrats, would you be a Trumpist, a Cruzist or a Kasichist? Republicans, are you #WithHer or #FeelingTheBern?

Personally, I would be an "establishment" Republican, but oddly one who focuses more on social issues than economics. I'd probably consider gay marriage a "done deal," but be really big on trying to free churches from big government, keeping marijuana illegal, and maybe also trying to regulate alcohol and smoking. Definitely staunchly pro-life. I'd be fine with things like raising the minimum wage and protecting social security.

Since I'm more of a small-government liberal, I'd also be fairly authoritarian, and would be a staunch defender of things like the Patriot Act and warrantless wiretapping. I'd be very weary of immigration, maybe not to the extent of supporting Trump, but probably to the extent of wanting to finish the fence and supporting the Brexit movement. I'm thinking Rick Perry would be a good match for Republican me.

Hmm, I would probably identify as a member of the "Religious left", with two of my biggest issues being support for protectionism and government involvement to protect children from "dangerous" forms of media, such as violent video games. I would probably support Sanders primarily becasue of his views on foreign policy views, although I would consider myself more socially conservative than either of them, and in general election would be undecided between Hillary and Trump, considering them both to be good choices for different reasons. Things such as my generally anti-abortion views and increasing skepticism towards socialism might make feel like something of a "DINO" sometimes, but ultimately I would still consider myself overall more left wing than right wing.

Also, even though this doesn't really have anything to with politics my counterpart would have to love cold. snowy climates and hate big cities. Tongue

Is this question supposed to be basically "what are the opposite of your views"?

Sort of, but I'm also trying to make it into an at least somewhat coherent ideology that someone might actually hold. For example, just because I'm not a monarchist doesn't mean that if you flipped my views across the political center that I would somehow become one. I don't know that many monarchist Republicans out there.

I'd be like Rick Santorum; far right socially and somewhat moderate economically. Now that's a terrifying thought.

I feel as though some are taking each of their viewpoints and making it the opposite, whereas I see a "reflection over the center" as placing you just as far right/left as you are currently, just on the other side. So that is what I am going to go with.

My reflection over the center would be to an establishment Republican. I would really hate Donald Trump. I would be moderate on social issues and take a pragmatic approach to them.

Huh. I always thought you and Clark Kent were ideological counterparts. Flipped across the spectrum completely, you'd be somewhat like Santander.

To answer the question, I suppose I'd be a centrist Trump supporter, although I don't know what the opposite of my "free and fair trade" ideology is. Slightly pro-life, anti-SSM, and neoliberal/authoritarian tendencies on guns would make me a good match for Trump. I'd probably consider supporting the Constitution nominee.

Either that drastic change, or I'd be basically the exact opposite type of centrist I am and undecided between supporting Hillary and Johnson.

A more theocratic, slightly more interventionist Donald Trump.

ETA:  If I'm going for a right-wing mirror rather than an opposite, someone like Rand Paul

I wouldn't be able to pick between Trump and Clinton, they would both seem like such great candidates!

Your old one was E +8.5~ and S +0.5~, IIRC. That's exactly about seven or eight points to his right in each direction.
