College sports no doubt, which seems to be a growing trend based on people wanting to see white people compete before they all get cut.

How about some Monster Trucks rolling around the convention floor?  If the delegation from Guam can't get out of the way fast enough.....That's entertainment!

ESPN will now cover the convention.  But seriously, this probably will increase viewership

Tim Tebow, if he runs for Congress, would be a very funny pick.

While on the topic of sports and politics, the only reason I know who Roger Goodell is is because I was browsing through this article.

Lots of Presidential candidates have had teams of sports figures in their corner.  Frank Gifford and Ted Williams were on Nixon's sports committee in 1960.  Bud Wilkinson was a Goldwater surrogate and candidate for Senate in 1964.  Joe Paterno (before Sandusky) gave a speech for Bush 41.

For better or worse, the American public would rather listen to their favorite jocks pontificate at the RNC podium than listen to a bunch of no-name GOP elected officials get "exposure".  At a certain level, I can't blame them.  Politicians generally don't say anything more substantive than jocks do these days, save for an occasional interview on C-SPAN.

I ... don't even know what to make of this sentence. Have you never watched a college football or basketball game?

Won't this be a problem with sports tribalism? Like if, he brings in the top scoring quarterback of the North Dakota Yankees or the lead batsman of the Seattle baseball team wouldn't the fans of relevant rivals start booing?

Funny that trump emphasizes NASCAR ..... a sport whose fan base is 99% white only.

The Florida Whapadoodles, Illinois United, the Phoenix Termites, the UCLA Associated Group For Basketball Playing. You know, all the biggest teams.

Probably not any active players.  The teams don't want their players associated with someone this controversial.  Plus it's the middle of Baseball season. The NFL will be starting out training camps. And I doubt Trump has a lot of fans in the NBA.

I mean, last night at the NBA finals a fan ran onto the court, took off his shirt and revealed TRUMP SUCKS written across his chest. Anti-Trump fever is taking over the sports world, too!

This actually isn't a horrible idea, it could get eyeballs and attention. Can anyone argue that it would be less interesting then listening to the former Governor of North Dakota 20 years ago?

Yes. And giving people what they want is not a completely dumb move, right?

The more passionate, genuine, and rapidly growing sport vs the soulless, corrupt, and rigidly corporate NFL machine? I'm not sure Trump fans would dislike the comparision of the two in relation to the candidates, especially since college football rules supreme in Trump country in the South and Midwest.

LOL.
Me ? ? ! !
What about trump ?
Are you in denial that trump continues to use race, "heritage," "Pocahontas," etc etc, as part of his campaign ?
If trump wants to say and make this a big part of his candidacy, then you bet you will need to get accustomed to hearing OTHERS (including the media) do the same.

Just like people would prefer to see a Hollywood legend like Clint Eastwood.

Well back in 2001 in Virginia, Steve Jarding and Dave Mudcat Saunders sponsored a very popular NASCAR driver and in polling conducted door to door, many people actually said that was a positive association. Warner won that election big. This is November, a few months after 9/11, when the Republicans enjoyed a national security boost.
