I visited Chattanooga a few years ago and have to say it is probably my favorite southern State (of the ones I visited). FS.

I haven't been, but it strikes me as lackluster, yet better than the Deep Deep South™. Didn't vote.

A music mecca. Many Unionists during the Civil War. Basically as FF as a confederate state can get.

Meh.  Happiness is an inside job, and you can be happy anywhere, and you can find great people everywhere, but too many cultural conservatives, even in the big cities.  Could be worse - could be Alabama, or, god forbid, Mississippi.

FF by far.

Great music, decent climate in the East...much more dignified than the culturally conservative plains states or boringly flat midwest states for sure.

It's alright.  Been to Graceland 6 times and I like Beale Street.  Nashville probably does as much harm as good for country music.  Smoky Mountains are lovely.  Erwin, TN is HP though.  As odd as it sounds, I've actually had more fun in Mississippi.

Hahaha no, it's not a subject of conversation around here, but then again, I'm a transplant who grew up in Virginia, so what do I know?  I'll poll my coworkers next chance I get!

It would be better if they'd deport TNVolunteer to NH.

Pretty bad place, but God forbid I have an opinion on it since I've never been there.

It's alright.  Been to Graceland 6 times and I like Beale Street

In the song "Walking in Memphis", I always thought the guy was saying "10 feet off a beer".

The radio station around here has that song in its regular rotation.  If I hear it one more time, I will kill someone.

Aren't you, yourself, a cultural conservative...?

Anyway, TN is obviously a great state for several reasons.  Nashville is one of my top five favorite cities I've visited, and it has nothing to do with country music, LOL; if you can't have fun there, then you straight-up don't know how to have fun.

I drive through it every couple of years and have since the mid 90s and the traffic in Nashville is ALWAYS sh**t!!  On the other hand, driving over Monteagle is always my favorite part of the drive.

I'm having trouble understanding this statement. How can you like even one of them? They all suck so bad. I would rather live on the Faroe Islands than in any Southern State.

Florida is the best I suppose but that's only because it has so many Yankees already. During Tropical Storm Colin a few weeks ago, they interviewed a lady on TV whose house was flooded and she sounded like the "Coffee Talk" lady on SNL.

Tell that to all the Yankee transplants in VA, NC, GA or TX... the South has so much more character than the North.

I don't think they moved there for the character, more likely the money.  In fact, as the giant transplant amoebae of Nova, Charlotte, the triangle, Atlanta, and Austin continue to expand, the south will become less culturally southern and they will actually destroy that culture as they make some weird cosmopolitan mix.  My uber driver in Charlotte a few weeks ago remarked as much, that he never encounters customers with southern accents any more because everyone is a northern transplant.
