Welcome to our viewers in the United States and around the world.  I'm Wolf Blitzer.  We have breaking news.  The traditionally Republican state of Utah, a state which has not voted for a Democrat for president since 1964, is too close to call.

Let's go to John King with his magic wall, where as you can see, almost half the precincts have reported.  John, where in the state do you think Mitt Romney's last-minute endorsement of Hillary Clinton might be helping her the most?

Elated that Trump must be headed for a crushing defeat.

Trump has no concept of red and blue states. He's targeting NY, CA & WV for f**k's sake.

Hope he will put lots of resources into NY and CA. States, he just can’t win.

This would have happened in the context of a Clinton landslide, so it would be drowned out in all the news of this:

Clinton would have been called the President-Elect possibly by the close of the Central Time polling places, assuming Missouri didn't take too long to call.  It would be an "icing on the cake" sort of thing.

We need some sort of Mormon "it's happening" .gif animation for this.

I agree.  But it would be interesting if Romney endorsed Hillary at the last minute because it was looking like a close election.  It might have an impact on other states as well.

I doubt an endorsement from Mr. 47% would have much impact anywhere else.  I could be wrong.

Some Nate Silverites have proposed that in a close election Utah could still be swung towards Clinton, because Utah is genuinely unique and will trend against the rest of the US.  Especially if a Gary Johnson candidacy picks up speed.  I tend to disagree.

Shocked, even though I'd have had 5 months of anticipating it.

Utah's a fairly conservative state for sure.  But I could see Romney's hatred for Trump causing him to do whatever he thought he could to take him down.  Including convincing Mormons that Hillary really is the lesser of two evils and so much less evil than Donald that they should switch just this one time.
