My workplace is a 40 minute drive by car from where I live. The only homes in walking distance are either in the ghetto or are several hundred thousand dollars above my paygrade. If you live in a Florida city you have a car, a guaranteed ride, or you're unemployed.

Sounds like Jacksonville

It IS, but it could just as easily be describing Orlando, Tampa, or (especially) Miami. The Miami commuting situation is legendarily bad.

I probably could live closer, but it's worth the drive to stay at a cheap place a block from the beach. Jacksonville is a great place if you're willing and able to drive a few minute to go anywhere.

I'd rather live in Kabul than Jacksonville.  Sorry, friend.

No, and it's kind of embarrassing that I don't have a driver's license. I wish I had gotten one at the same age as everyone else.

My number one regret of the past, I waited longer to get my license and really regretted it.

I don't really own a car I guess because I lease, but I have a Scion.

I didn't get my license until I was 23.   Would have been useful to have it before then, but I just didn't feel ready, so I can't really regret it.

I've only fixed the head gasket problem. Kept it stock aside from that. 133,200 miles.

Nice, I had the rival 87 RX7 Turbo for a few years until I blew a seal*.  Those 90s Japanese near supercars (for the time) are great cars and have all held up fairly well in the performance and style departments.  The 7, your Supra, the Z, even the Stealth/3000GTs and the lesser but still good DSM cars, all good stuff.

Or perhaps it's like music and people just tend to like the cars they were into when they were 18.

*and they won't let me back in Oregon.

No. The public transport of Warsaw is quite efficient and certainly much cheaper than driving a car. I only have a motorbike for recreational purposes.

Yeah, I get along fine without a car, but it's still slightly annoying.

Yes, but I wish to some day do not need to own one. Its useful and saves a lot of time but I can efficiently use public transport so I should gradually limit usage of my car.

Opel Corsa, 2001.

My visual disability prevents me from getting a drivers license, so no--I'm almost 46 but have never owned a car.  I have driven a car a few times though.  It was pretty hilarious.
