The working family who is already stretched to the limit financially?

OR

Who cares? The British public supports the monarchy overwhelmingly in poll after poll. They aren't changing it anytime soon, nor should they. I love the American republican system and wouldn't want it here, but hey, if it works for them, great.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

That's less costly per capita than the Bush tax cuts.

The Royal Family usually pays for these things, other than for police and other security involved.

It is probably wise to understand that the average taxpayer only shells out 81 cents per year to pay for the Royals, or that the untold sums of money that tourism brings due to the Royals. You also can't forget the profits of the Crown Land.

Here's a good and pretty funny look at the cost of the royal family.

Auschwitz brings in a fair amount of tourism too...

The view that the Monarchy should be kept because of "tradition"/"stability" is a more respectable one than "muh tourism".

Tickets were £150. That paid for it.

Also whatever you think of the monarchy (i think we should bring back the Anglo-Saxon elective monarchy) post-juatification by using bean counting arguments or tourism is hilariously askew.

Apparently there was a float representing the Royal Yacht Britannia. Now that was a waste of taxpayers money... and was scrapped for that reason after a lengthy one-man campaign by veteran Swansea MP Alan Williams.

I wish I could have such an epic birthday bash for my upcoming birthday. I will also be hitting a significant manifestation of our decimalized number system's amount of revolutions around the sun.

In fact, there is some question as to whether this current line, the House of Windsor, is in fact the legitimate rulers.

The history of Queen Elizabeth II's family is shrouded in mystery: citing the results of DNA tests as well as hereditary genetic disease, experts suggest that the House of Windsor has no rights to the British throne.

Down with these usurpers!
