I'm open to joining. I support smart government, but that doesn't mean defining the size of the government in my opinion.

Are you guys planning on focusing on protecting civil liberties for all or is this more 'economic freedom'?

Agreed. We could vote for a President of the group and then have them start rule on matters (endorsements stuff, etc.), until your return of course.

Do you support the uncontrolled proliferation of marijuana to all adults who want it, in any quantities they want it, so that Atlasia can produce an entire generation of brain fried, spaced out pot heads?

As the sole liberal in the group I will state my opinion at least that marijuana should of course be legalized. We should allow 8 oz a month that will be taxed and regulated. I don't know what you mean by "brain fried, spaced out pot heads", but would enjoy your statistics on the matter.

Marijuana has both short- and long-term effects on the brain.

Read the article.  Very enlightening.

I'm against legalizing marijuana for what that's worth. But, I support legalizing industrial hemp.

Huh. Well, a study by NiH found that many of the short-term effects or perceived long-term effects were not long-term and wore off. Also, they occurred in varying degrees, as people who did more of the substance had more negative effects (as you would assume). So under an 8oz/mo rule, I think many of the aforementioned effects would not exist.

Marijuana’s effects on these abilities may last a long time or even be permanent.

Sounds like pretty damaging effects to me.

Perhaps you don't think this is serious brain damage, but I do.

Sure, marijuana can be bad for you. Personally, I wouldn't consider using it. But just because something is bad for you doesn't mean it should necessarily be illegal, which is why tobacco, alcohol, and McDonald's are all legal. I think people have the right to do what they will in this regard, especially since marijuana is not very addictive (relative to most drugs) and people can use it a number of times without getting hooked (or even experiencing significant negative effects). I believe that those issues should be left to the regions, but I would definitely legalize if a bill were put in front of me as Governor.
