This is the first time George can do his country actual service.

We've gotten to the point where Republicans would rather be photographed with George W. Bush than their current nominee.

I would be curious to see W's current approval ratings. I could see him being above water in Missouri.

Blunt isn't in much danger. And I doubt he helps in the other states.

I'd love to see Obama and Bush go head-to-head on the trail. Bush has been amazing when it comes to avoiding criticizing his successor, but let's see how his abstention works out while campaigning with a right-winger like Ron Johnson.

Aren't there kittens he should be painting in his playroom?

I can't wait till we get official confirmation that he is clinically retarded. We were so shellshocked and saddened by 9/11 that for 7 years no one noticed this nation was being governed by someone with an IQ of 70. Trump may be a lot of things, but he is way, way smarter than GWB.

Never thought I'd see the day. I'm not sure this election cycle could get more surreal... (but it will)

Perfect opportunity to remind the voters how involved Portman was in the Bush administration.

Perfect opportunity to remind the voters how involved Portman was in the Bush administration.
The two seem to be good friends, and while that colors Portman's résumé, and adds to his experience, it's also a major liability for a good number of voters.

I would be curious to see W's current approval ratings.

The most recent poll I can find is this Quinnipiac poll from February of this year, which had Bush at 47% favorable 47% unfavorable:

Really?  I mean, OK, in general knowledge, I can believe that.  Could Trump beat Bush in Trivial Pursuit?  Probably.

In terms of public policy though, Trump seems to be far dumber than Bush.  He's basically at Palin levels in his understanding of policy.  Bush could at least talk about certain topics, even though he fumbled through his words on the way there.  But what does Trump know about anything?  I'm basically in agreement with James Fallows that Trump "may be the most ignorant person, about public policy, who has ever gotten this far in a presidential race".

It won't be relevant, imo. He's been out of office for nearly 8 years. People don't vote off endorsements or supporters, in most case.

You know the Republicans have hit rock bottom when they want to be seen in public with the man who gave us President Barack Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
