I'm quite surprised at you supporting the Brexit, Windjammer. Is it because, as some believe Britain out will get the remaining EU closer together and strengthen the European Integration in the long run, or are you anti-EU in general?

The EU itself has probably done more for the far-right than just about anything else since the 1930s.

Yep it was also my first thought. To make a unpopular comparison, they're the same kind kind of idiots as the Weimar communists, someone who fail in understanding, that by breaking down existing structure, the new structure which will be raised will most likely not be some they like and quite likely a lot worse for their cause.

Horrible Politics. They're generally pretty far left, like most leftist non-interventionists. At least the Conservatives Brexiters can be mainstream on the rest of their ideology.

Any leftist who supports German bankers forcing austerity on Greece should immediately give up their leftist card.

FFs. Realize that the EU is an undemocratic, unresponsive organization.

Since when did supporting ECB despotism become a tenet of the left?

I'm extremely pro european, europhile. I would love France and Germany to merge and then the creation of the United States of Europe.
The problem is that the UK is a trojan horse and is always slowing the process, so hopefully they will leave (they won't though)

Brexit would only deepen the major crisis that the EU is already facing. It'd be a fatal blow and political integration would be further away than ever.

Most of them seem to be hanging on to an ideal of nation states and sovereignty that doesn't work any more.

No country is going to be able to apply any genuinely egalitarian policies when the rich and powerful can move their capital around the globe at a moment's notice.

And Britain has no hope in hell of actually cracking down on anything like tax avoidance by itself.

Also, its pretty obvious that what is actually going to happen on Brexit is not going to be pretty for anybody on the left.

The current EU system is terrible. It's not going to remain in place. Even this option is preferable to the statut quo.

Yes, it's terrible. The point is that Brexit will only boost selfishness, chauvinism, centrifugal trends and the current climate of gloom and confusion created by the neoliberal disorder Wink

If GB leaves, 2 options might happen:
- some other eurosceptic countries leave as well---> less difficult to reform the EU. And additionnally, GB is one of the most pro free marketeer country in the US, so always good to be less influenced by that.
- the EU implodes. People will realize how dumb that was to make this system implode (euro would remain). So european integration will be able to restart with better institutions.
