They weren't bad people, quite the reverse. But unquestioning ideological dogmatists and therefore political idiots. This rigid dogmatism prevented them from seizing power when they had the chance (they believed, as good Orthodox Marxists, that the Workers Party should only take power after the completion of the per-ordained Bourgeois Revolution), thus leaving the way open for Lenin's gang of sociopathic zealots.
