With regard to a couple of people asking why would someone want to give Trump sympathy, a boost in the polls or otherwise make him revered, you have to think like someone who would do this. In their mind, the motivation to prevent this guy from ever becoming President supersedes all else; "who cares if he's lionized after the fact, so long as he can never get into the office?".

Also, I can't wait for @RealDonaldTrump to announce on Twitter that he supports confiscating all LEO firearms and replacing them with batons.

A lot of the time it's to achieve infamy rather than anything else. This guy, Mateen, Tommy Mairs, the Oklahoma City bomber, most presidential assasins - all people more concerned with making a statement and not on tangible political aims.

I am worried about Trumps safety, tbh.  A lot of the rhetoric from the left is certainly encouraging violence.

There are very few things I can think of that are more 'unamerican' or more damaging to the wellbeing of our country than threatening the life of a high ranking public official (or candidate official).  There should be broad, bipartisan rhetoric condemning those who think these actions are a valid way to express frustration or political dissent.
