So Marco has decided to run for reelection. Obviously if he wins in November, this would help boost his chances in 2020 because he would be a sitting Senator and have won in Florida in a presidential year. But what if he loses?

Not if people keep propping him up as this invincible force.

He lost Florida by 19. LMAO 'invincible', these pundits really are delusional. At least Santorum was smart enough to drop out before he would inevitably lose Pennsylvania in 2012.

Likely. But he could have a comeback after being elected governor in 2018. But in that case he should wait until 2024. Just starting a presidential bid a few months after being inaugurated as governor is not a good idea.

What if a Republican wins in 2020 though? Then he would have to wait until 2028, and he'll be 57 (still a decent age, but he may be old news like Santorum/Huckabee this cycle).

This. For any other politician losing your home state to a reality TV star by 20 points and only carrying a single county would end your political career. But the media, pundits, and starry eyed GOP donors will never give up on their golden boy, even if he becomes the next Harold Stassen.

Not if he runs for Senate in 2018 and wins or if he challenges Putnam for the gubernatorial seat and wins.
