do you really think an expansion of NAFTA to include the UK would be at all difficult to pass?
It would probably be not difficult for the US, but I am not sure that's what people in the UK Independence Party have in mind.

Some Atlanticists both side of the pond have mused about joining NAFTA, but I doubt the Kipper base would be particularly amused if that happened.

People in this country like being the big fish in the agreements. If the EU is noxious, I doubt they'll be delighted with being utterly dwarfed by the Americans. (Also, Scotland will almost certainly jump out of the union)

Thing is, NAFTA is so minimal, even the bare bones EFTA without the EEA additions is probably more stringent.

NAFTA doesn't have a supernational court system that would overrule parliament. It also doesn't allow for freedom of movement, which is the real main reason people support UKIP.

Can we just move to admitting the uk or its constituent nations into the Union?

How about it, what do you say Brits/English/scots/welsh/Irish? Only half joking here.

Wouldn't it be easier to just nullify the declaration of independence ;-)

Well there's not much appetite in the U.S for free trade right now, so I'm not sure if letting the UK into NAFTA is feasible.
