A Fox and a Crabb are standing, seriously; the latter on a ticket with Javid. Osborne has ruled himself out (shock!) and Jeremy CHunt is considering. Theresa May likely to stand. Meanwhile Boris and Gove apparently had breakfast with Lynton Crosby this morning.

Crabb is basically the candidate for people who are on the right-wing of the party but nevertheless backed Remain?

Reading what he has to say in the Torygraph, he appears to be running as a conciliatory option. Reading between the lines, yeah, that seems accurate.

I think Liam Fox or Boris Johnson wins. Crabb would be a good PM, but he may be too young.

He's the same age as Cameron was in 2010.

Well I suspect that's his point. Wink

Anyway, Michael Gove is standing after all. As is one of the leading lights of the Leave campaign - Andrea Leadsom.

Looks like Gove's email was leaked last night by his own team/ As always has been a good week to learn the art of political plotting

Gove really twisted the knife into Boris.......I wouldn't be surprised if Boris sits this out now.

Also, Michael Fallon might enter.

I like how according to this, Boris Johnson was running for 9 minutes.

What is betrayal by Gove.  Feels like Brown-Blair 1994 only it is not clear at all Gove will win.  Most likely he will not.

GBP jumps on news that Boris will not run.  Not clear to me why.  Perhaps the feeling is that May has a lock now ?

I understand May is loathed amongst certain sections of the membership.

How beautiful to see this whole mess blow up in Johnson's face. Serves him well. He'll curse the day he turned coats for Leave.

I guess May is the best choice for the CON electoral prospects.  A Eurosceptic that was part of the Stay campaign.  That way she is not weighed down by the unfulfilled promises of the Leave campaign yet can carry out a Leave policy and pull in UKIP votes.

Michael Gove's most recent major public statement was "people in this country have had enough of experts."

Reminds me of this from the 1980s British T.V Show "Yes, MInister"

From the episode "The Greasy Pole"

Chair of the British Chemical Corporation Sir Walley (a public company that may or may not exist): "I tell you as a chemist myself that metadioxin is utterly safe" (apparently there is no such chemical compound)

Minister Hacker: "Why do you experts always think you're right?"

Chair Sir Walley: "And why do you think that the more inexpert you are the more likely you are to be right?"

Looks like May is going to make it to final two.  At-least going by tally of MP support.  Wonder who the other one is going to be.

Why isn't Boris running? Something to do with Michael Gove's e-mail? People need to stop being vague.

It went further than that - Gove out and out said a few hours ago that Boris would make a crap leader. Boris then saw the numbers in the parliamentary party ebb away from him and so he pulled out.

So, Gove claims to be an expert in who would and wouldn't be a capable leader?
