Not to be a dick here, but a lot of you sound quite sheltered.  A walk through the South End would do wonders for your perspective.

My father used to be a blue collar worker; he is now the vice president of his company.

Yup, of course, though the vast majority of people I know are white collar.

Seriously, though I'm more comfortable by far with white collar people, all of my friends in my current town are blue collar workers.  Though that distinction is very gradually becoming meaningless.

There's no "No" votes, because Snowstalker was already banned.

Yes, most of my dad's family and some of my mom's, although the latter are mostly retired.

I grew up in rural central Illinois. Of course I do. Lots of people I knew in high school are union laborers now, and I also worked a summer at an alcohol distillery which was, of course, a union shop.

But most of my good friends are from white collar families.

Hey now, just because Snowstalker's parents bought a ham for $500 doesn't mean he's part of the bourgeoisie!

One of my best friends is (sure, he's a blue-collar guy who got to study in a top university, but this isn't quite as impossible in France as it is in the US).

What the hell do these terms even mean anymore?  Is it basically white collar on one side and everybody that is not white collar on the other?  I guess I'm blue collar, but I'm certainly not blue collar the same way my father was.

"Blue collar people" is a silly term.
