Stevenson is unable to expand his support into the northern states, he only carries NY (thanks to Wagner) and MN by narrow margins, which is not enough to give him the election. Nixon secures a fair victory.

✓ Vice President Richard Nixon (R-CA)/Former Governor Theodore McKeldin (R-MD): 326 EVs.; 51.9%

Former Governor Coke R. Stevenson (D-TX)/Senator Robert F. Wagner Jr. (D-NY): 212 EVs.; 47.0%

Would vote for Tricky Dick; he would also have won the election.
