I'm using the phrase in its literal sense here.

Yes, and quite proud of it!

I live in a farming area on the outskirts of a small post-industrial city, within an hour's drive of at least a dozen extended relations and family friends. Once I finish grad school in Boston, I don't intend to go back to the city often.

BRTD, you would do very well to come to appreciate the term "different strokes for different folks (and those other folks aren't antagonists to your bizarre life journey)."

Not quite "rootless" (no one is, even BRTD), but generally speaking yes.

"Cosmopolitan"? Yes (though I found the term pretentious).

"Rootless"? Abso-fycking-lutely not.

I live in a largish city that isn't where I'm from and I don't plan on dying here (or "home")....so....yes?

Torie's root system has not only taken hold in Hudson, but seems to be expanding here, there and everywhere throughout its two square miles, thereby in the mind of some becoming a nuisance, requiring the services of an arborist.

No, I prefer to live among people who share my mores and values, and I'm not naive enough to believe that anybody other than a very small elite truly can belong to the whole "Citizens of the World" group.

Ignoring the original meaning of the term, sure. I have roots in that I identify with where I live, but this can easily change, and I'm not really part of any larger group that I identify with.

Considering I've lived all over the world for an average of 2-3 years in each city since childhood, by definition, yes I am.

I guess so, since I don't really identify with or feel a strong connection to any particular place, so I suppose that makes me "rootless" at least.

I am about as far from being a "rootless cosmopolitan" as is possible when living in a major American city. With that said, I arguably could qualify as one.

I am both a literal rootless cosmopolitan and exactly the sort of person who the phrase was meant to describe, so yes.
