Bruce Rauner (R-IL) will run for reelection in 2018: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/editorials/ct-bruce-rauner-budget-reforms-edit-0621-jm-20160620-story.html

Still a lot of time, but I think he'll be defeated.

The People's Pat? Then I would rate this race a toss-up/lean R.

I hope he runs just so I can see him get destroyed again. It was beautiful last time Smiley

It's driving me nuts that the word "Illinois" is misspelled in the title of this topic.

Splendid news - it will be great watching him lose.

Just making sure you can't delete any record of this if Rauner wins.

Dems should win this if they aren't dumb enough to nominate a crap candidate like Quinn or Giannoulias. Sadly, in Illinois, this could very well happen.

He'll be like Corbett in 2014. He's going down even if it's another bloodbath for Dems.

A lot of people said Scott and LePage couldn't be re-elected. Yet they were. Honestly it's too early to tell anything about 2018 aside from the obvious (ex. Democrats aren't winning Alabama)

Will Douglas P. Scott run? He seems like the only candidate remotely qualified who isn't from Chicago or with ties to corruption.

I don't think they're that comparable, unless Rauner lucks out and gets a lousy opponent and/or a three-way race.

Peo-ple's Pat! Peo-ple's Pat! Peo-ple's Pat!

Dems are gonna win this. My gut tells me that Quinn could squeak this one out. But if the candidate is as underwhelming as Giannoulias, then yeah, wasted opportunity. I think Illinois Dems will be ready to win this.

Durbin declined IIRC, and Bustos probably just wants his Senate seat.

Besides, neither has any real executive experience.

He would lose the primary.

But I think Rauner will be toast in 2018.

The democrats will probably nominate either the people's crook or daddy's little girl and give Rauner a good chance

I think the results will be the same as Carter 1980, just with the parties switched.

Can't wait for Atlas Democrats' reaction when the race is called for Rauner on election night.

Quoting this for posterity.

If this mirrors 1980, then Tio Hardiman or Bill Daley will probably be the next Governor of Illinois

I would imagine this is Advantage D, but who knows in a state with Illinois' problems. I'll reserve judgment for now.
