I applaud Senator Tmth and Representative NeverAgain's work to abolish the death penalty.

I stand strongly opposed to this admendment.

If you are opposed to this, I look forward to hearing your explanation for supporting a practice that has caused the death of innocent lives, is financially irresponsible and extremely arbitrary. I also look to forward to hearing your alternatives (preferably in the form of legislation) that would create a form of justice that doesn't kill innocent people arbitrarily.

I think Senator Tmth has stated my opinion exactly. The practice of the Death Penalty is inhumane, immoral, not fiscally souns, and has never been shown to deter crime.

I would also ask dissenters for their proposal to help fix problems that the death penalty gives.

I demand that justice be done and demand that we finally enact this into law.

Thank you.

(We could have the death penalty for cases like mass killers, recidivists and cases judges find impossible that another person could have commited the crime. For example police surrounds a house with a gunman and a hostage who is kiiled inside. To avoid errors, could drop death penalty in cases with only circumstancial evidence.)

I too support this bill. The death penalty is arcane and inhuman and every step should be taken to remove it from practice across the globe. The world looks to Atlasia as a gold standard and we should take a lead on this issue and end the death penalty.

AYE

As much as I would like to keep it for treason and espionage, I have decided to send this out for ratification and let the people decide.

Those are legitimate reasons to shift those trials to military tribunals.

Wow, I forgot to vote. I swear I did though. I was going to but seeing we have zero rules, I will vote not my conscience on this as I vehemently oppose this admendment. The reason for this, is I had a cousin who lost a limb during the Boston Marathon. But, I also don't want a lawsuit filed over this measure. I would've liked some safeguards for people like the Tsarnevs and others but it's to late and sadly up to the people to decide. I will vote AYE very begrudgingly, only for democracy's sake and to stop the upcoming lawsuit on this. We have to get the ball moving in Atlasia.

Just to clarify - this amendment reserves the right of the military judicial system to prescribe capital punishment, correct?
