Trump has said numerous times that he could put many Democratic states into play this election. Some of the states that he has mentioned, including Pennsylvania and Michigan, seem reasonable as they are usually competitive. However, he has also mentioned his home state of New York and California, two very reliable Democratic states that were both won by Obama by over 20 points in 2012. He states that if he spends money in California, the Democrats will be on the defensive and will also spend money in the state.

Does he genuinely believe that he can win these states or is he just trying to excite his supporters?

He is a narcissist, so of course.

When presented with a media opinion of himself he is quite reactive, not just to the content, but also to the glorification of his being.

It's something he cannot change at 70.

If he really does, then he is more of a nut than a thought.

When he was in California he told a room full of Republicans he was going to compete in California, because that is what they want to hear.  And he likes to talk about winning New York because of his ego and maybe he knows that history isn't full of guys who lost their home state but won the presidency (I believe Woodrow Wilson is the last to pull that off).

Certainly as they are doing fundraising pitches, I seriously doubt his team are telling donors they are going to spend millions in NY and CA as that is a fast way to get them to suddenly not be able to find their check books.

If he shoots enough people on Fifth Avenue, NY is within his reach.

Especially if he aims for the "Democratic-looking" people.

Yes, because he's completely delusional. He probably thinks he can achieve a 50 state sweep.

I don't get you red avatars with this ridicule Trump nonsense day-after-day.

Every candidate, heck even Gary Johnson or Jill Stein, is going to claim that they are going to win or compete in every state they are on the ballot in, if asked, even if they are going to get killed in it.

Why?

GOTV for down ballot races among other things or simply to maximize your vote share in a particular state.

Trump is NO different.

There is claiming that you can compete in every state, and then there is being so delusional that you are going to win in the toughest states that you waste your resources there rather than in the states that are actually competitive. We aren't blaming him for talking a big game, we are laughing at the fact that he is digging his own grave. But by all means, encourage him to keep spending his time and money in NY and Cali.

Trump didn't make his billions by being stupid. His campaign offices will be in Trump Tower. Aside from that, he's been frugal in this campaign. Do you really think that he's going to waste money more than your typical organizational stuff (state campaign office, etc) in New York or Cali? Of course not.

You red avatars were skewering him for not having the infrastructure in place in Pennsylvania on another thread. Is it Trump has an underfunded infrastructure or Trump is wasting money in New York and Cali? I can't follow the red avatar hatred of Trump logic very easily on this board.

"Even in Connecticut... I'm going to spend a lot of time in Connecticut. We might even give a shot to New York and California."

Thats what he just said at his Denver rally

Trump didn't make his billions by being stupid.

Why do the red avatars pile on Trump?  Because he's a reality-tv-star fraud who inherited his wealth, bullied minorities out of properties, spent a life self-promoting, made terrible business decisions, and is crass, boorish, and of sub-par intellect.  His popularity represents the worst impulses of America: the elevation of sensational personality over substance, experience, and credentials.

If Donald Trump were a musician, he'd be an American Idol winner.  If he were a sport, he'd be pro wrestling.  If he were a movie, he'd star Adam Sandler.  If he were a burrito, he'd come from a gas station.  If he were sushi, he'd come from a grocery store.

Lots of people think pro wrestling is a real sport and love Adam Sandler.  A disturbingly large number of people.  Legions.  Enough to get a person elected president.  Those people are stupid.  Objectively so.

This is why we ridicule Trump, day after day.

The entire world is laughing at us right now.
