I ask because this may occur for Ingress later in the year.

But for better or worse, love him or hate him, opebo basically defined St. Louis, the same way Bushie defined Oklahoma for the denizens of the forum.

Not everybody has an unhealthy obsession about banned, mediocre poster.

It has more to do with how prolific he was.

For the record I'd be constantly reminded of you if I visited Poland for the same reason.

OK, fair point (I more associated him with Missouri avatar than a specific city).

Just went there, I thought opebo lived in Thailand, but I guess I trust the avatars too much...

He actually had a D-MO avatar most of the time he posted, he just happened to switch to the Thailand one briefly around the time he was banned. He did live in Thailand most of the year, but the D-MO avatar was very iconic and so associated with him.

My Mom lives in St. Louis.  When I go to visit, I don't once think of opebo.

Worth noting that I actually thought "So this where dead0man lives" the one and only time I've been to Omaha.

Aye, and vice versa I'm sure...and honestly, it's plausible I could think of opedo in STL if I wan't from the area and my brain wasn't full of "everything looked bigger when I was a kid" and "when did they put a Wal Mart in there?" and "thank God I got out of this crap hole".

A couple years ago, I began imagining a character who spent most of her life in St. Louis. Never once in that process did I give as much as a passing thought to Opebo. I wish it could have stayed so. Thank you for ruining that forever.

Ugh, and to add insult to injury, I accidentally voted no due to not reading the question right.

For the record, I'll always think of Omaha as a bizarre and surreal city. Why? Because we got there around 4AM, visited the downtown when it was pitch black dark and completely deserted, spent some other time actually going to some cemeteries (yes in the dark) and then left by about the time the sun starting rising again. It was also cold thanks to be it one of those very windy late March days. Cold and windy in a cemetery around 5AM...that's the sort of things I remember about Omaha. And it all went away once the sun came up.

I associate him more with Thailand than I do anywhere in Missouri.  I had an airport layover in Bangkok about five years ago, and yes, the fact that I was in the same country as opebo for a few hours did occur to me.

The most noteworthy thing about Opebo wasn't where he was from, it was that he was a hedonistic pedophile.  As for the OP's question, I'm pretty sure I could.  After all, I've been on this forum since 2005 and literally forgot he existed until this stupid thread reminded me.

Hedonistic? Sure. Pedophile? No.
