OK, so the rules are changed and people born overseas are allowed to run. Both Michael and John Howard have been living in the US for long enough and are US citizens.

Who wins in a John Howard vs. Michael Howard vs. Howard Dean election, PRESUMING PREFERENTIAL VOTING IS IN PLACE, and that congress is split 33.3%/33.3%/33.3% supporting each candidate.

I'm going with Howard Dean, because people would be more likely to vote for a natural-born American. A map would be good Smiley

John Howard sweeps the regular Republican states.  Michael Howard takes Florida and competes well with Howard Dean in the Northeast, but Dean wins most of the regular Dem states.

I'd vote for Howard and he'd do quite well. Dean could've won if this was last summer, but now, he's stuck his foot in his mouth way too much.

my (uneducated) guess

Howard Dean (red): 221
John Howard (blue): 238
Michael Howard (grey): 79

I was being generous to Michael.

states that I couldn't easily predict-OR, NV, CO, NM, IA, MN, WI, NH, ME, CT, PA, OH, FL, WV. when in doubt, I tended to go with the 2004 result or Michael Howard, although in some states I thought that the whole 'actual american' thing might change the result (ie Iowa).

I see something like this.

Howard Dean (Red): 499
John Howard (Blue): 39
Michael Howard (Grey): 0

Seeing as this couldn't be too far into the future (logistically) with Howard Dean and John Howard and all still living, this amendment would be new, and much anti-immigrant sentiment/fear would still exist. I believe the option of Michael Howard is out, due simply to where he is from and how people don't want that all over again (=p), leaving only Dean and J. Howard. I believe John Howard will pick up some of the socially progressive, yet highly conservative states in the West, but that's about it. Howard Dean would sweep in the rest of the nation with at least 63% of the popular vote.

I don't think that'd be a huge factor in the northeast, and I expect Howard would do almost as well as Bush would against Dean in the area, but I have no idea really how it would effect other areas, especially the midwest and south.

Michael Howard would present an odd situation.  He's anti-immigration, is the son of immigrants, and in this scenario he'd actually be an immigrant himself.

Howard the Duck would win an electoral sweep.
