The phrase “long time no see” is believed to be a literal translation of a Native American or Chinese phrase as it is not grammatically correct.

Or should it be

Almost certainly, or.  Judging from the context, the phrase probably originated in the American west back in the 19th century.  If the phrase makes grammatical sense in either Chinese or Native American languages, there probably is no way of knowing which was the source of the phrase in ENglish.
