The Hillary Clinton/Tim Kaine ticket defeats the Trumpster and Newt Gingrich in 2016. In October 2019, President Clinton announces that she will not seek reelection for health reasons. After the announcement, her approval rating rises from 42% to 52%. Vice President Kaine, endorsed by Clinton and former President Obama, quickly emerges as the frontrunner for the Democratic nod and handily defeats Andrew Cuomo and Sherrod Brown in the primaries. He faces Sen. Ted Cruz in November 2020. Cruz won the GOP nomination under the slogan “I told you so. We lost three races in a row because we didn’t nominate a real conservative”. Hillary’s approval rating the week before the election is at 49%.

Something like this map. Cruz is unelectable.

Tim would destroy Cruz, the darling of the Tea party movement is hated by almost everyone. I mean John Boehner called him: "Luifer in the flesh." By the way, Florida should go to the Dems ( better Republican candidates have lost it back-to-back).

Kaine/Castro- 380 EV, (53.7%PV)
Cruz/Fiorina- 158 EV, (45.3% PV)

Cruz is just too ideologically radical and unelectable for the country to handle.
