How would a 2016 U.S. Presidential election between John Kasich (R) and Hillary Clinton (D) have turned out?

Also, for the record, you can pick anyone you want for both Kasich's VP pick and Clinton's VP pick. Smiley

I think Johnny would defeat Hilldog. Kasich does very well in rust belt, taking Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. He is also strong in New England, while his running mate Marco Rubio helps with Florida. Kaine saves narrowly (50-49%) Virginia. Kasich picks up a lot of votes from dissaffected Democrats.

Governor John Kasich (R-OH)/Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL): 303 EV. (50.71%)
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (D-NY)/Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA): 235 EV. (47.55%)

338: John Kasich/Condoleezza Rice - 52.7%
200: Hillary Clinton/Martin O'Malley - 44.4%
Others - 2.1%

Governor John Kasich (R-OH)/Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL): 343 EV. (53.49%)
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (D-NY)/Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA): 195 EV. (46.61%)

I formerly supported Kasich and this ticket would have been a nightmare scenario for Clinton, so she must be glad she's facing Trump instead of Kasich. Kaine would not have been enough to salvage Virginia. Rubio would have allowed him to win FL, and states with a high Latino population such as NV, NM, & CO. Kasich has blue collar appeal to the Midwest and New England. He wins his home state comfortably and flips MI and PA for the first time since 1988. Give or take MN. It could have been an easy win for the GOP but they'd rather choose Trump..

I don't see any reason why Kasich would have done significantly better than Trump. Democrats, suburban White women and minority voters are rallied around Clinton.

The Clinton machine would have turned Kasich into Romney 2.0.
No, Clinton is a corrupt liar whose desire for power is endless. Kasich would have nearly all the #NeverTrumpers behind him, plus a few more voters. Plus, after 8 years of Obama, when the other option is not Trump, Kasich would do better.

And Hillary wouldn't win Florida , Colorado against any other GOP nominee not named trump , Cruz , Carson , Fiorina .  At this point Jeb Bush would beat Hillary

Maybe, but I think people are exaggerating the number of possible Obama/Kasich voters a bit. As much as I hate to admit it, but Kasich would hardly do better with Hispanics, Blacks and White women than Trump.

But the electoral math is terrible for Hillary vs kasich as kasich wins all the Romney states and picks up Ohio ,Florida, Colorado , Iowa in nearly every sceniro which gets Kasich to 269

You weren't saying that in 2015. I posted that in the Funny Posts Thread, IIRC.

Some women may be voting for Clinton because she's a woman. As with Blacks, Kasich likely gets 2-3% more than Romney, but not much. He would make inroads with Hispanics, though, IMO.
