I don't think the dichotomy between choice and non-choice (especially if non-choice is interpreted as some ridiculous talk of biological determinism) is relevant to these issues.

Also, don't we know since Kinsey that sexual orientation is a continuum rather than a binary? And I'm sure the same logic can be applied even more easily to gender identity (at least, things would make a lot more sense to me if so). If that's the case, someone who's close to the middle can in some sense be said to choose one or the other, if not in theory at least in practice.
