I included the last option since borders change.  How would a German-born person answer if his parents were born in German parts of present-day Poland prior to WWII?

Anyway, option 3 for me.  My mom was born in Iowa, but my dad was born in British India.  He was born in Lahore, which is in present-day Pakistan, and when he was a baby, his family had to flee to Indian Punjab after the partition of 1947.

Same country, same city, same Warsaw Pact Tongue

My grandparents, though, were each from diffrent parts of the country, although places they were born in are still within our borders.

- Maternal grandmother: Świętokrzyskie Mountains
- Maternal grandfather: Warsaw
- Paternal grandmother: Marki (currently pretty much the same metro area as Warsaw)
- Paternal grandfather: Sejny (close to current border with Lithuania)

I included the last option since borders change.  How would a German-born person answer if his parents were born in German parts of present-day Poland prior to WWII?

My parent's friend is such a case. He was born in 1947 pretty much on the new Polish-German border. He was born on the Polish side, but it was later to become German side due to further corrections.

My Arabic professor, who's Syrian, used to say he was one "by accident", since he was born on the Syrian-Iraqi border and "it could have gone wither way".

Yes. Although some extreme AIM types and sovereign citizen loonies would probably argue that they were not born in the same country they lived in and served as my legal residence when I was born.

Same city, same voivodship, same country, same partition, same continent.

But other district. What is funny my grandmother from father side was born few kilometers from place where my other grandmother was born (and my one grandfather lived). Recently my mother started to make some deep research on her mother family side and actually since XIX century they used to live in the same area. My mother was first to born in big city/some other place than countryside in one particular region as for my grandmother family.

Unfortunately, no. But, fortunately for me, I was lucky to grow up outside the spectre of Soviet oppression.

Yes, but all of my grandparents were born in Europe. My mom's mother was born in Dublin to Anglo-Irish parents, my mom's father was born in Germany to Dutch-German-Czech parents, my father's father was born in Italy to Italian parents, and my father's mother was born in Slovenia to Slovenian parents.

I have to go back to great-grandparents born in the 1800's to find ancestors born outside the US.
