Has ISIS taken credit? The obvious guess is that it was ISIS but I'm not sure if anything official has come out.
These things are now usually a lone-wolf who pledges support to ISIS just before dying. Not ISIS-planned.

It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late,
With long arrears to make good,
When the Frank began to hate.

They were not easily moved,
They were icy -- willing to wait
Till every count should be proved,
Ere the Frank began to hate.

Their voices were even and low.
Their eyes were level and straight.
There was neither sign nor show
When the Frank began to hate.

It was not preached to the crowd.
It was not taught by the state.
No man spoke it aloud
When the Frank began to hate.

It was not suddently bred.
It will not swiftly abate.
Through the chilled years ahead,
When Time shall count from the date
That the Frank began to hate.

RIP. This is terrible. Why? WTF is wrong with radical Islam? Is there anything that can be done that doesn't involve turning away refugees?

Very disturbing news.  this nihilistic death cult.

It's not just radical islam. Just see some very recent incidents in the US. It's dehumanization and fanaticism that's the problem.

Also, seems to now be confirmation that the truck driver was shooting as he was driving.

Accepting families (husband, wife, children), women, and children alone could help.

Men would need to be processed better in every regard, education, religious beliefes (if someone lives only by the Quran and Sharia and disregards man made Law) and other things in between.

Tragic event tough, let's just hope that the injured make it now.

It feels like we're all completely powerless. That it's gonna happen over and over and there's nothing we can do to stop it. I don't know what else to say.

It's not just radical Islam, but the vast amount of it is.  How is dehumanization the problem?  Please explain.  Who is being dehumanized??

There definitely hasn't been any publicly released information about who the killer was or what his motives might have been. I'm not saying it wasn't an ISIS linked attack; it probably was. But we probably shouldn't be rushing to blame people before we know who is actually to blame.

What a thug. At least 84 dead now. Rest in peace.

We definitely need to do more against radical Islamic terrorism, although you can’t prevent all attacks; especially with lone wolfs. The west and the muslim countries do not enough to stop their funding. Our so called “allies”, meaning Saudi Arabia, is a huge problem. We have to stand up to them. It is their money and especially their radical version of islam they’re exporting.

Such a horrible event.

It's a tragic circumstance.

I read the truck was only going 20-25km/hr.

Whilst deadly, that fact would have saved a lot of people.

If the truck was moving at 135km-hr, then the death toll would have been enormous.

ISIS are losing in the Middle East and the lone wolves know it.

RIP to the victims and deepest sympathy to their families.

The driver was Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, he is from Tunisia but had a residence permit in Nice.

Radical Islam has been around for years though, the question as to why it is attracting people, and how to stop it, is demonstrably more complicated than simply denouncing the ideology.

If the speed was 25km/h it would be slow, people could have avoided the truck.
I heard that the speed was between 70 and 90km/h

He ran them over for a mile? What were the police doing ffs?

2 kilometers at 70km/h you made it in less than 2 minutes. Police forces stopped that guy in two minutes while he was moving at a high speed, I think that they did the best they can.

We were talking on another forum about how the euro went surprisingly well, and how July 14th was the last risky day before France goes on holidays, and starts anew in September. Sadly the worse happened on the last day.
I am afraid we passed the edge now, and the government doesn't know what to do. If there isn't massive action from them very soon I would not be surprised to see something like an attack on a mosk soon.

I'm sorry to report that he didn't make it. Thankfully only three others in our group were injured.

Sincere condolences.

At this point it's starting to look like a genuine miracle that nobody within at least two degrees of separation from me has been a victim of these nihilist thugs. I don't know how long it will last.
