Out of interest do we have a ban on dual office holding?

On the actual issues.

Would the nominee be willing to support an infrastructure bill that would help Atlasia's declining, and much underfunded roads, bridges, rail and many other transport facilities

Given that Spiral does not hold an office, this is an odd time to ask that question.

People in Congress are explicitly allowed to be in the cabinet and, since no one stopped me from selecting Peebs, presumably people in regional legislatures are also allowed to hold cabinet offices. Tongue

Yeah, tmth asked me to check the Southern Constitution to see if there were any dual office holding bans. It seemed a bit odd when he asked me because I wasn't expecting to be nominated RG.

The text on dual office:

The President can select any nominee. People are then expected to follow the rules on office holding. I think only Congress members can hold two offices, not regional members but I'm sure someone will find a way to twist things to say its legal.

No one is twisting anything. Let's take a closer look at part of the text you're quoting:

Peebs was not elected to RG, so while regional legislators are not explicitly allowed to hold cabinet offices, given that it says "be elected to" and not "hold," only a twisting of words would say that this is not legal. Considering that all voting Senators voted to confirm Peebs, this seems like the unanimous interpretation.

Now, let's stop cluttering this thread and let the confirmation hearing continue.

Leinad got it right. I was Governor of the South up until the reboot kicked in, so I don't hold any office at the moment.

On the actual issues.

Absolutely. This is one area that the government has priority in setting boundaries and maintaining to optimal condition. Infrastructure affects how our economy is run and even how we live our everyday lives, so ignoring it brings devastating results in the long term. Infrastructure policy should reflect the need to both minimize economic waste and commit to environmental stewardship as we look for ways to address pollution, overpopulation, climate change, etc. What we should also look at with any infrastructure bill is not just how the federal government can broadly pump spending into maintenance, repair, and new projects, but how states and localities can reap the benefits in cooperation as well. I am considerably more interventionist on these issues than the President may be, but we can always work out our differences along with the legislature for the best possible outcome.
