     I remember that it seemed like everyone used to say this. I did too, until my philosophy teacher explained to me that it should be option 2. The results of this poll are quite encouraging to me.

aye, I thought it was "nee-chee" (with no "uh" at the end) too until right freaking now.

I've also learned to pronounce it this way and this is how it should be pronounced by. But apparently in this case there is an exception to the rule and it should be pronounced with the s silent.
