My Turkish friend who is currently on the Asia side of Istanbul is telling me that they are not allowed to leave their homes at this time, the state tv is being forced to read a statement about the military taking over. But she had no knowledge of Erodgan trying to flee.

So, why would Erdogan try to fly into Ataturk Airport instead of going to Ankara? Surely there must be an airport somewhere in Turkey that is run by people sympathetic to him? Unless he's truly relinquishing power and can read the writing on the wall.

Why are y'all thinking the US has anything to do with this ? I mean, the Turkish can surely organize their own coups without Murican involvement, as they have repeatedly shown before. If anything, military coup to restore civic order is a Turkish specialty !
