Yes that is occuring. At one point I believe Sky News had to cut off live footage to avoid showing graphic imagery.

Yeah, it definitely was a massacre near the bridge in Istanbul. Brian Williams kept talking as if nothing happened, but when I rewound the coverage (thank God for modern cable!) I saw several people get hit, and many didn't get up when the gunfire ended. Wow.

Any chance of this being False Flag? Kkkk, but Erdogan is one of my favourite world leaders. Better than establishment pro-business and fascist pro-military that always went against Turkish people. But establishment prefers a leader with their trust than Erdogan as member of anti-imperialist axis with Putin and Assad.

From what I can gather on twitter, it seems that in Istanbul the coup has pretty much failed, but in Ankara there are still a lot of fighting and bombing. Not sure you can control the country if you only conquer Ankara and not Istanbul though...

Well apparently the Air Force has remained loyal to him but given the aerial bombardment of the parliament that seems unlikely.

Perhaps they're hoping to keep him alive then take him hostage for leverage later on?

Given the supposed liberal democratic leanings of the coup attempt (at least rhetorically paying homage to the rule of law, natural rights, etc) I would tend to support them. There is no question Erdogan is a mega HP and needs to be removed, and I wish it could have been done through the ballot box.

It's not a coup anymore. The military had control, but a popular uprising has broken it.

This is now a civil war. Let's hope it's over in hours instead of weeks/months/years/decades.
