Since my "Opinion of Drop-Outs series has been copied by so many other people, and Pence didn't run this year, I figured I'd make this.

Is Mike Pence a FF, HP, Both, or Neither?

Meh.

Positive: Calm guy, well-connected
Negative: Too conservative, LGBT-Rights, his stances on trade.

However, I can live with him since I badly want Big Don in the White House.

His being TrumpMiller's VP slightly increases the chance that they both die in a single plane crash, so that's a plus.

Niether. Pence is too socially conservative, but is honest and from what I've seen seems like a genuine person. RFRA was a debacle but not as bad as it was made out to be, and in general Pence has kept the state on the right track fiscally, although he does not have the innovative reform ideas that Daniels pushed.

HP. I've been hearing rumors that he and Kushner conspired to force Trump's hand and leaked the "selection" before Trump even made up his mind. He's obvious not a bad politician, if true. That's some House of Cards there.

I used to like him more than Rick Scott and Andrew Cuomo. Now, I think that's a mistake.

A smorgasbord of everything wrong with the Republican Party + dull.

Perhaps Trump is absolutely terrified of the Party over-ruling his nomination.

An embarrassment of a governor who takes credit for the successes that have occurred thanks to his predecessor and nothing of his own doing.

Sellout; no principles.

Also, to claim that, as the sitting governor who signed the RFRA into law, he didn't know that the allegedly anti-gay portion was in there means one of two things:

1. He signed the bill into law without reading it (unacceptable)
2. He is a liar (also unacceptable).

I rest my case. HP.

I'm frankly bewildered at the outcry over a pretty generic choice. He's not without faults but compared to Trump and Hillary they are rather minor.

or (3) He thought it was almost identical to federal law and wouldn't cause problems.

It's pretty incredible. After the outcry he pretty much gave the LGBT rights groups everything they wanted and they still want his head on a pike.

Yep. Utterly baffling. It's sort of like how, after WWII, the Jews got their own homeland, yet still bitch about Nazis today.

Trust me, I know the SJW left was extremely petulant during this controversy (as they usually are), but Pence did not display strong leadership, either, and outside groups should not know more about a bill that's being signed into law than the state's sitting governor.

No pick was great for Trump.

Trump accomplishes two important objectives by this pick.  The first is that he picks someone whose conservative bona fides are in order.  This was, truthfully, a subtle but firm demand Paul Ryan put on Trump in order to garner his endorsement.  The second is that Trump managed to select a conservative who doesn't have a slew of negative statements about Trump he now has to explain and/or walk back.  In truth, too many GOP pols have made such rash statements against Trump to date that their endorsements will expose their own lack of credibility.

Absolute Freedom Fighter.

If elected, will make an outstanding Vice President, and President, if required to do so.
